[link] (NOT FOR THE FAINT HEART, this documentary includes intense and disturbing scenes) [link] My people have suffered far too long. In 1965 America's CIA recruited a secret army to fight along side the Americans during the Vietnam War. In return they were promised that if anything were to go wrong they would be brought to safety. Under the leadership of a young man by the name of General Vang Pao, a small tribe in Laos known as the Hmong people fought alongside America, blood to blood. But when America withdrew from the war the promise of safety was quickly broken; the Hmong were left behind to fight and fend for themselves against a nation that HATED and HUNTED them down. As of today 200,000 Hmong live in the United States. But it's still not enough. TODAY after 31 years since the end of the war there is still a genocide against the Hmong people in jungles of Laos due to their role during the war. Evidence of this genocide (pictures and videos) have been brought to the attention of the United Nations and United States', after six years NOTHING has been done. In return for their help during the Vietnam War a new law, the Real ID and Patriot Act have now listed the Hmong people as terrorists as they were a insurgent group that fought against their own nation, but along side America. June of 2007 General Vang Pao bought USD$9.8 Million worth of weapons to send back to his people in Laos. Caught in mid-action General Vang Pao and nine of his men were arrested. This event has united the entire Hmong community as the younger generations have never looked at the General as a hero; he has now gained great respect from the younger generations. The United Nations and United States have offered no help to these helpless people as they have been hunted down like dogs. Would we have to just sit and watch America's secret army die in silence? General Vang Pao has taken an extreme action to bring notice to this helpless situation. Open your eyes and give these people the help they need. On June 19 Minnesota had a rally at the State Captial, as protests will also take place in other states. Although I DISAGREE with the general's wish to overthrow the Lao government. I will support these protests for a different reason. These people in Laos need IMMEDIATE ATTENTION. And I stand by their side as they need the most simple things such as food and to just stop being hunted. |
